Sustainable entrepreneurship, innovation & transformation

How can organisations turn the major challenges of our time (Grand Challenges) into new business opportunities and potential for innovation?

Research in this area examines how organisations respond to far-reaching transformations and actively shape them. The focus is on how complex challenges give rise to new business models, value creation approaches and forms of collaboration. We are interested both in what needs to change – such as business models, governance structures and leadership practices – and in how these changes are initiated, shaped and effectively implemented.

A particular focus is on how organisations can productively harness the tension between short-term performance pressure and long-term orientation to develop sustainable innovative strength.

The following questions are of particular interest:

  • how organisations strengthen their capacity for renewal and transformation,
  • how leadership, innovation, impact and implementation capacity are effectively combined,
  • how companies can be managed and steered in an integrated manner amidst growing complexity,
  • and how sustainable value creation and social added value are translated into viable business and organisational logic.
